Sean is, in his position as China Director, the GRI Representative in China, where his main focus is to establish GRI’s representation in China. He is responsible for GRI’s working relations in China with government, business, civil society organizations, labor organizations, accountancy groups, the media, and other stakeholder groups at all levels.
Sean brings extensive background working on business environmental issues and has regional experience working in Asia. From 1995-2000, he worked as a consultant in Taipei, Taiwan for Bayshore Pacific Environmental Business Services and, later, its partner company Strategic Analysis Asia. His work included assessing business approaches to environmental management, analyzing policy trends, and market research for environmental technologies and the chemicals sector. During this time, he also worked with the American Chamber of Commerce Environmental Committee, including serving as Chair of the Committee. Prior to joining GRI, Sean also worked as an independent consultant to investor, non-profit, and business organizations on issues related to sustainability performance measurement.
Sean moved on from a successful period at the GRI Secretariat in which he has been responsible for overseeing the process that relates to the development of the GRI Reporting Framework (Guidelines, Supplements, and Protocols) and the accompanying resource material. He has also facilitated the working group processes and represented GRI in many international forums. The publication of the G3 Guidelines, the general expansion of the Framework and Research documents, report registration, application check/report services, TAC liaison and the involvement of stakeholders from new stakeholder groups, in particular investor related groups, are among his major achievements. During the above mentioned period Sean made several visits to China for GRI already. |
