Did you know? At last count, 17 languages were spoken within the GRI Secretariat.

 

 

Under leadership of the Chief Executive, the Secretariat implements the technical work plan set by the Board of Directors and also manages network and institutional communications, outreach, stakeholder relations, and financial administration. The Secretariat supports the operations of the Board of Directors, Stakeholder Council and Technical Advisory Committee.

 

 

 

 

 


The Chief Executive, Ernst Ligteringen, and Deputy Chief Executive, Teresa Fogelberg, are responsible for the oversight of both the GRI work program and the organizational management system. They are the contact points for the Board of Directors and are supported by their team.


Responsible for developing the GRI Guidelines, Sector Supplements and other research associated with the Reporting Framework. The technical centre also reviews and analyzes reports produced based on the Guidelines. They are the key contact points for the Technical Advisory Committee.

 

 


 



Responsible for building and maintaining key strategic and funding relationships with business, governments, foundations, and others. They are also the key contact points for the Stakeholder Council and Organizational Stakeholders.


Develops the learning programs that support use of the Guidelines. This includes knowledge certification for practitioners. This team also develops the technical solutions that underpin these programs.
 



 


 


 


Responsible for human resources, financial management, IT and other functions that keep the secretariat and the network up and running smoothly.


A number of individuals known as GRI Associates work with the GRI Secretariat on an ongoing or ad-hoc basis.



 




Over the past two years, several GRI Focal Points have been established in various regions of the world.  Focal Points consist of one or more individuals employed by a host organization to represent GRI locally established through the collaboration between GRI, the national host organization and other national institutions.
