Introductory workshop

 

GRI looks for..

                                                                                     

GRI is looking for local organizations who are interested in organizing workshops (as described below) to contact us, as GRI can then provide an appropriate experienced facilitator to give such a workshop.

 

So, the first step is whether your organization is able to answer yes to the following questions,

1. Is there sufficient interest to run such a workshop as described below?

2. Is your organization able to provide the logistical support to make the event happen, i.e. participant administration, venue, appropriate training equipment, etc...

 

If your organization is able to answer yes to the above questions, then please formally request GRI to provide an appropriate experienced facilitator. In that request, GRI asks that you provide the following information:

 

1. Information on what your organization does, where it is based and whether it is a profit or not-for-profit organization.

2. When and where you propose to hold the workshop.

3. What the target group is that you propose would participate in such a workshop.

4. Whether your organization intends to charge participants to come to this workshop. 

 

Workshop General Aim

 

Introductory workshops will provide participants with an introduction to GRI and the services it provides. It will show why and how the G3 guideline framework can assist organizations to manage and report on their social, economic and environmental impacts.

  

Workshop Objectives

 

Participant will be able to:

  • Recognize the changes in business context & the drivers for sustainability for organizations.
  • Differentiate between philanthropy and responsible (sustainable) management.
  • Provide reasons why organizations of all types and sizes are preparing sustainability reports.
  • Explain what GRI is and how it can help your organization to understand and measure sustainability impacts.
  • Identify the main characteristics of the GRI framework for reporting.
  • Identify the five phases of the sustainability reporting process.
  • Provide a list of activities to be done under each phase.
  • Prepare a realistic time line for covering the major activities necessary to complete a GRI report.
  • Explain what is a GRI certified training and how to participate

Workshop Participants Target Group

 

This workshop is focused at those who wants to know GRI and GRI reporting process in a general introductory way. The aim of this workshop is initial awareness raising on sustainability issues and the GRI guidelines. As such, it is important that participants have little of no knowledge and experience on GRI and the GRI guidelines. We generally aim for an audience of 20 to 50 participants.

 

Workshop Duration

 

The standard workshop program is organized to run for two to four hours. 

 

Workshop Methodology

 

The workshop facilitators will use the following training methods:

  • Plenary presentations
  • Small group discussions & share experiences
  • Small group practical exercise

Workshop Handbook

 

The GRI learning publication “GRI Sustainability Reporting: A common language for a common future” is used during the workshop and as such should be provided to participants during the said workshop.
