A near-doubling of OS membership this year further consolidated the OS network and ensured continued significant benefits were delivered to the now 392-strong OS membership. Congratulations and sincere thanks to all OS, especially the 170 new OS members (in one year!) who signed on to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and transparency and their support of the GRI network.
Numbers were not the only boom in the OS program, with many benefits experienced throughout 2006. Between January-March, OS enjoyed promotion and free entry to the “Sneak Peeks” – regional previews of the draft G3, held in 27 international locations.
In September, OS received advance copies of the G3 Guidelines – providing opportunities for OS to familiarise themselves with the improved Guidelines, and also glean intimate understanding of internal preparation for G3-based reporting.
At the October conference, over 400 individual OS were treated to benefits including discount entry fees, an exclusive dinner, specialized OS name tags, an OS booth displaying a scrolling list of members and access to GRI staff for specific questions or comments.
The governance roll of OS remains integral to helping steer the course of the GRI. 2006 saw the rotation of the Stakeholder Council (GRI’s “parliament”) and many OS enjoyed taking advantage of their voting privileges.
OS benefits will continue throughout 2007, for example throughout the G3 regional roll-outs. To join as an OS, or for more information on the program visit www.globalreporting.org/os
From the OS team and on behalf of the GRI network, thank you to all OS and we look forward to working with you in 2007.
