Boarding-call for the GRI Airports Sector Supplement

As air traffic increases each year, getting people to and from their respective destinations while keeping sustainability impacts low presents a major challenge for airports around the globe but one that is foremost on their radar screens.

Stakeholders such as industry associations, journalists, airline companies, local authorities, investors, and passengers are no longer content to stand by - they are looking for greater transparency on sustainability issues that impact their lives and businesses.

Sustainability reports based on the GRI sector specific reporting guidelines are a time and cost efficient tool enabling airports to keep ahead of increasing demands of stakeholders for transparency and accountability. GRI has been approached by airports and their stakeholders to create a customized set of reporting indicators specifically for airports to use on a voluntary basis. The sector indicators will be developed in a consensus seeking process involving interested parties from all corners of the globe.

A Practitioners’ Network is now being formed for those who wish to get involved in the design of the GRI Sector Supplement, comment on the draft supplement, and to be available as external resources. Information, specific questions and drafts will be communicated to the Practitioners’ Network as they become available.

How to board the process? If you are interested in more information and want to become involved in the Practitioners’ Network, please let us know by sending an email to the GRI Secretariat.
