Most of the GRI Secretariat staff have been busy preparing for the Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency and so have been staying closer to home. Nonetheless, over the last month GRI has conducted some limited outreach. Sector Supplement Project Manager Maaike Fleur travelled to Bonn and delivered a presentation on GRI and Biodiversity reporting at the International Conference on Business and Biodiversity. Maaike also held the second Food Processing Working Group meeting in Switzerland. Progress was also made on the NGO Sector Supplement. Facilitated by Naoko Kubo, the Working Group met in Amsterdam for their second such meeting.
GRI’s Chief Executive Ernst Ligteringen paid a flying visit to Kiev, the capital of the Ukraine, to speak at the country’s second ever international CSR conference. At a time when sustainability issues are beginning to take hold in China, GRI Director Sean Gilbert also made a quick visit to Beijing for a workshop organized by the UN Global Compact. GRI’s Associate Director, Ralph Thurm also travelled to Asia but to Singapore for the UNEP organized Business for the Environment Global Summit.
