A pilot version of the specific reporting guidance for the apparel and footwear sector is now freely available on the GRI website for companies to draw on during their sustainability reporting process. The guidance contains apparel and footwear specific management disclosures, performance indicators and commentary on the G3 Guidelines content and it is intended for manufacturers and brands that manage supply chain for apparel and footwear production.
The content was developed using GRI’s characteristic multi stakeholder approach and involved input from a working group, equally divided between the industry and non-industry stakeholders with balanced constituency and geographic representation, a practitioner’s network, and contributors during the official public comment period.
A big thank you from GRI to everyone who has been involved in the development of pilot version of the Apparel and Footwear Sector Supplement!
As a next step in the Sector Supplement development process, GRI is exploring possibilities to launch a one-year program that to further develop the Supplement into a final version, by developing a set of accompanying protocols. The program will also include awareness raising opportunities for the industry on sustainability reporting, with particular emphasis on suppliers that have yet to report. The GRI Secretariat invites interested apparel and footwear companies and other organizations to get in touch via email for more information.
