Have you ever wondered how the Earth Charter relates to the GRI Guidelines? To help Earth Charter has put together a guidance paper on how its Charter relates to the GRI Guidelines, as well as the UN Global Compact. This paper provides practical advice on how GRI reporters might use the GRI Guidelines to implement the Earth Charter and vice versa.
The Earth Charter, an inspiring and visionary set of widely endorsed values and principles on how to build a just a global society, has a strategic alliance with GRI. Both initiatives involve working on the sustainable development agenda and represent the work of thousands of people worldwide, from multiple stakeholder groups. But, they also take different approaches, and have some important differences of scope and approach. This guidance paper deals with how they fit together, how can they build on their respective strengths, and how can they be used to drive change.
A finalized version of the document, adapted to include your feedback, will be presented at a special event at The Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency.
