Multi-stakeholder process for Human Rights project begins

The Human Rights Reporting project “A call to action” launched in September by Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the Global Reporting Initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of human rights performance measurement and reporting (click here for more information on the project), is kicking off this month with its 1st Working Group meeting being held on 27 & 28 November in Amsterdam. Following that will be a Workshop on human rights performance measurement and reporting in Geneva, Switzerland on December 17, 2008. GRI stakeholders are invited to participate in the workshop, which will bring together experts from business, NGOs, trade unions, finance, intergovernmental organizations and other stakeholders.

The results of the workshop will directly inform the Working Group that is preparing recommendations for the Global Reporting Initiative on how to improve the quality of human rights performance measurement and contribute to the development of practical guidance for companies.
