GRI and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) – the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation – are to begin working together to promote transparency and sustainability in the supply chain.
The target group for this cooperative effort will be Austrian companies with suppliers in emerging markets who need to react to consumers’ needs for transparent business relationships. The supplier companies will further benefit from gaining better insight into risks and challenges in their supply chain and their capacity to measure and report sustainability performance.
These Austrian companies will be encouraged to promote transparency of the sustainability impacts of companies in their supply chains through membership in GRI’s Global Action Network for Transparency in the Supply Chain. The central purpose of the Network is for large companies to provide support to their Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) suppliers in measuring and reporting on their economic, environmental and social performance – otherwise known as sustainability reporting.
Austrian companies interested in engaging for transparency in their supply chains in emerging markets are invited to apply for grants of up to EUR 200,000 - within the framework of the Private Sector Partnership Programme of the Austrian Development Agency.
