The last of a series of five European Workshops on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure was held in Brussels on the 25 February 2010. The workshops, which brought together representatives from the many constituencies in Europe actively engaged in this field, were designed and facilitated in a way that encouraged interactive and detailed discussions among the group. GRI formed part of the core group for the series of workshops and was represented at the final workshop by Chief Executive, Ernst Ligteringen, and Director Sustainability Reporting Framework, Mike Wallace.
The objectives of this final workshop were to both explore a variety of possible scenarios for better and more widespread disclosure of ESG information, and to receive proposals from all participating organizations on how this work should be taken forward.
It is intended that the conclusions of these workshops will be discussed during a conference to be organized by the Spanish EU Presidency on 25-26 March 2010, and in a plenary session of the European Multi-stakeholder Forum on CSR in the latter half of 2010 or early 2011.
