GRI Readers' Choice Awards 2010 - The Awards

The GRI Readers' Choice Awards is the voice of a wide spectrum of stakeholders- readers who have thought about the quality of reporting, who have been engaged by the reporters and who want to have their say.  This is the essence of the Readers' Choice Awards - it is stakeholder engagement: employees, investors, suppliers, distributors, consumers, and not least, company managers.

What constitutes a good sustainability report? The readers should tell us what types of reporting are effective. Readers that took part in the Readers' Choice Awards Survey chose reports that exemplified just those qualities in a report that they thought were important. As such, these votes have been cast for specific reasons, and the analysis of those reasons has been a fascinating exercise.

GRI Readers' Choice Awards - The Readers' and the Reporters' Survey

The Readers' Survey asked readers to review their reading of sustainability reporting - not just traditional sustainability reports but sustainability information obtained from consulting companies' websites, often searchable.

New this year was the creation of a Reporters' Survey in order to compare readers' and reporters' objectives in reporting.

The Survey Factsheet, a joint effort of GRI's content partners Futerra, KPMG and SustainAbility, highlights a selection of the main findings. In the fall of 2010, this topline factsheet will be joined by a Survey Report that will provide an in depth analysis of the opinion and characteristics of today's readers and reporters.
