Carol Adams
Professor of Accounting
Durham University

Carol Adams is an author, consultant and Non-Executive Director with expertise in financial and non-financial reporting and environmental, social and governance risks.

Carol Adams’ work is concerned with the role of accounting and reporting in the relationships between business, society and the environment.  She is an internationally renowned author in integrated reporting, social and environmental accounting and sustainability reporting. She is Professor of Accounting at Durham University Business School in the UK and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Sustainability Management, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, Germany. Carol consults to multinational corporations and other organizations on corporate reporting and integrating sustainability into business practices.

She has been involved in various global corporate reporting initiatives and is currently a member of the Stakeholder Council of the Global Reporting Initiative and a member of the Capitals Technical Collaboration Group for the International Integrated Reporting Council. She served as a Director and Council Member of AccountAbility and was involved in the development of the first AA1000 Framework. She is a member of the ACCA’s Global Forum on Sustainability, the ICAS Sustainability Committee and the Climate Disclosure Standards Board’s Technical Working Group.

Namit Agarwal works as Private Sector Advisor at Oxfam India. He leads Oxfam India’s engagement with private sector to advocate for responsible business policies and practices. He led creation of India Responsible Business Forum, a platform to promote adoption of inclusive and responsible business practices by Indian companies. He was also part developing India's first index of top 100 companies listed in India on how responsible their policies are.

Rashyid Redza Bin Anwarudin

Rashyid is currently the Vice President, Head of Accountability, Reporting & Engagement for Sime Darby Berhad, which is a diversified Malaysian multinational and the largest producer of certified sustainable palm oil globally. Prior to joining Sime Darby, he has more than 15 years of consulting and corporate advisory experience regionally, spanning across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Previously, he was part of the regional leadership team for the Sustainability and Climate Change practice of the PwC South East Asia Consulting firm. He advised numerous private and public sector clients regionally on matters around sustainability strategy, policy frameworks, valuation, reporting, impact measurement, climate change and green technology. Rashyid has spoken previously at various public forums within the region on areas covering sustainability and has also contributed articles on the matter for various publications.

 
   






Seema Arora

Seema Arora pioneered the creation of services on Environment and Sustainable Development within CII. Her journey with CII began with engaging Indian Industry towards the run up to the Earth Summit in 1992.

Seema Arora works on designing innovative products and frameworks to build the business case for industry to invest in Sustainability.  She has created several initiatives including the World’s first Corporate Sustainability Label from the Centre. As the head of the Centre she networks with Industry, Government and Community based organisations to develop policy instruments and innovative voluntary approaches to Sustainable Development. She is also providing inputs to defining Sustainable development Action plans at State level. Ms Arora provides training and counseling to Industry for evolving a Sustainability Vision and a portfolio of Sustainability Strategies for building a Sustainable Business Organisation

Her main areas of interest include environmental policy, management systems, corporate sustainability, institutional strengthening and capacity building.

Seema Arora has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Delhi University. She is a member of the Stakeholder Council of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). She is a member of World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Governance for Sustainability. She is a member of the external review panel for Sustainability Reporting for several global companies. Ms Arora is a member of the Polaris Committee of FBN International.

She has twenty five years of experience in the field of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development.

 
   




Swapan Kumar Bala

Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala, FCMA has currently been working as the Managing Director of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd. (DSE). Under his management leadership, DSE has been demutualized in November 2013. He began his teaching career at Dhaka University as a Lecturer of Accounting in 1991 and became Professor in 2011. He is an IFRS professional from ICAEW (UK). In addition to B.Com. (Hons.) and M.Com. in Accounting from Dhaka University, he completed M.Phil. equivalent ‘BIDS Advanced Course on Economics and Quantitative Techniques’ and did his Ph.D. on Value Added Taxation from Dhaka University.

Dr. Bala is the present Treasurer of ICMAB and Chairman of SAFA Committee on NPOs and Cooperative Sector. Prof. Bala is also a Professional Member of IMA (USA), an Associate Member of Virtual Institute, UNCTAD and a life member of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. He has extensive Training of Trainers experience. In the recent past, he represented ICMAB in ICAI’s 54th National Cost Convention (Jan. 2013; India) and Global Management Accounting Summit 2015 (July 2015; Sri Lanka) and represented DSE in US SEC’s Program (Apr. 2014), World Exchange Congress in Qatar (Mar. 2014), WFE’s Programs in South Korea (Oct. 2014), Brazil (May 2015) and MIT, USA (Nov. 2015) and APEC FRTI Regional Seminar in Maldives (Oct. 2015). Dr. Bala also rendered professional services to Central Bank and apex tax authority of Bangladesh. To his credit, he has 70 research articles, 9 research monographs, 9 books, 1 study manual and 42 seminar papers. 

 
   




Wim Bartels

Wim Bartels is a partner at KPMG in the Netherlands and Global Head of Sustainability Reporting and Assurance. He has been with KPMG for over 20 years and has also worked for KPMG’s Forensic & Integrity services and KPMG Audit. Wim has extensive experience in industrial markets, such as energy, chemicals and consumer products, across Europe, Asia and Africa. He delivers assurance to over 40 multinational companies and regularly supports KPMG’s global client engagements as a sustainability reporting and assurance expert.

Wim has also written extensively on sustainability assurance and is the lead author of KPMG’s Survey of Corporate Responsibility Reporting. He has given speeches across the world on sustainability and has served on a number of panels to discuss both reporting and other sustainability topics – always from a business perspective. Most recently, Wim was appointed as a member of the Financial Stability Board’s new Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.

Helena Barton is Partner in Deloitte and Sustainability Services Leader for the EMEA region. She has worked extensively in the fields of sustainability risk management and reporting, helping both private and public sector organizations to integrate sustainability principles into their operations, take greater responsibility for their impacts and be accountable to stakeholders. Helena has led numerous international client projects on sustainability reporting, assurance and compliance. She has advised regulators in several countries on setting up effective legislation for sustainability reporting, and she was lead author of a recent study by Group of Friends of Paragraph 47 which included developing a framework for evaluating the effectiveness of regulation on sustainability reporting and recommendations for policy makers. Helena has been a member of the GRI Stakeholder Council since 2010 and is currently serving her second term as Chair of the Council. She is also a member of ACCA's Global Forum on Sustainability and serves on the CSR Committee of the Danish Auditors' Association. Helena holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology.

 
 




Jermyn Brooks

Jermyn Brooks is Chair of Transparency International’s (TI) Business Advisory Board and a member of the Board of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue.

In 2000, Jermyn joined TI as Executive Director and CFO. Jermyn became involved in TI's private sector initiatives including the anti-money laundering standards of the Wolfsberg banking group; the Business Principles for Countering Bribery and specific industry-focused initiatives. He was a founding member of the World Economic Forum’s Partnering against Corruption Initiative (PACI) and has chaired the 10th Principle Working Group of the United Nations Global Compact between 2009 and 2013. Jermyn relinquished his executive role in the TI-Secretariat and served as a member of the TI Board between 2003 and 2006 and again between 2011 - 2014. He continues to focus mainly on TI's key private sector initiatives.

Jermyn joined TI after a career with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was elected worldwide Chairman of the firm in 1997. In 1998 he played a key role in negotiating the PwC merger and until his retirement in 2000, he oversaw the completion of the merger in some 150 countries around the world. Jermyn also championed the introduction of corporate social responsibility and sustainability issues into PwC‘s strategies and lectured and frequently wrote on these subjects and on the practical implications for the private sector of these challenges to traditional corporate thinking. Jermyn is also engaged with companies to advise them in their sustainability reporting; this year, for instance, he has worked for ABB, and in previous years for Shell, Novo Nordisk, Nexen, GE, and Enel, to name the most important.

From 2011 until 2014 Jermyn acted as Independent Chair of the Global Network Initiative.  He has participated as chair or member of review panels of leading European and North American MNCs’ Sustainability Reports and is a frequent speaker at anti-corruption and sustainability conferences.

   
   






Bastian Buck

Bastian has worked in various capacities for GRI since 2006. He has an in-depth institutional knowledge of GRI’s technical development history and played a key role in the successful development and launch of GRI’s G3.1 Guidelines in 2011 and the G4 Guidelines in 2013. He became Director Sustainability Reporting Standards in December of the same year.

Bastian has presented and lectured on sustainability reporting in more than 30 countries and has a vast experience in the moderation of consensus-seeking processes and the facilitation of international multi-stakeholder expert working group procedures. Bastian is now responsible for all standard setting activities at GRI. His core project in 2016 is the Transition of the G4 Guidelines to the first set of GRI Standards.

 
   






Joe Tsun Cheng

Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE)

Mr. Cheng is a Senior Vice President of the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and since 2014 he has spearheaded many key initiatives in the development and reform of corporate governance in Taiwan’s capital market.  He also serves as the Executive Secretary of Taiwan Corporate Governance Center, and as a member of the TWSE Listing Screening Committee.

Mr. Cheng has been responsible for overseeing corporate governance management in the areas of strategic planning, project research, regulatory revision, promotion activities, database construction and represents the TWSE at global bodies and events to enhance Taiwan’s global exposure.  This includes sharing Taiwan’s corporate governance development experience with Vietnam which was hosted by the Hanoi Stock Exchange and the Asian Development Bank.  The Jesus College of University of Cambridge also invited him to speak on governance, integrity and compliance in the Taiwan financial sector.

From 1989 to 2014, Mr. Cheng was in the TWSE Listing Department. He has over 25 years of experience in lPO examination, post-IPO company monitoring and corporate governance.

She has worked extensively with the Chinese government and industrial associations in developing related policies, standards and guidelines. She boasts rich experience in helping many state-owned enterprise, private companies and multinational companies in China to establish the CSR management system. She is the co-chief editor of CSR in China (Chinese and English versions), and editor & translator of The State of Responsible Competitiveness (2007/2009). Ms. DAI obtained her MBA degree from University of Twente, the Netherlands.

Andy is currently the Director of Global Integrity Enhancement for GlaxoSmithKline PLC, which is a science-led global healthcare company. He has worked at GlaxoSmithKline PLC since 2014 when he joined the company to lead its Anti-bribery and Corruption Programme.

Andy started his career at the aerospace, defence and security company BAE Systems; working in general management and business winning roles in both the domestic and export markets. He led their responsible business conduct programme at a time when that company was under investigation for allegations of bribery and corruption on both sides of the Atlantic before joining Deloitte in the UK where he specialised in the design, implementation and assurance of anti-bribery and corruption programmes for a range of multi-national corporations across a number of sectors.

Andy holds an MBA from Lancaster University and a BSc in Social Policy from Bristol University.

Dr. Jerome Donovan is currently a Senior Lecturer in International Business at Swinburne University of Technology. Jerome is also a Principal Advisor - Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Development with the Ministry of Science and Technology (Vietnam), a Senior Advisor - Economic Development for the Ministry of Planning and Investment (Lao PDR), and a Senior Advisor for the Ministry of Planning and Investment (Vietnam). He was also recently an Advisor with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (Australia), working on the Australia in the Asian Century Taskforce and a Program Leader of SME Engagement, Education and Innovation Management within the Advanced Manufacturing CRC. During his time at Swinburne, he has also held positions as the Co-Program Leader for Innovation and Internationalisation within the Centre for Enterprise Performance and the Program Coordinator for the MBA (International).

His research interests include corporate sustainability assessments, global value chains, innovation, and international development. Jerome has published in a range of leading international journals, international conferences and a book across a range of disciplines including international business, international relations, accounting, and higher education. Jerome is currently working on a project with the Global Reporting Initiative Organization, looking at integrating sustainability reporting within global value chains. He recently completed a number of large external projects, including with six national governments across ASEAN (Myanmar, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines) on developing a best practice model for corporate sustainability assessments, and profiling innovation practices and performance in the Australia Manufacturing Sector (with AMCRC).

Sandra Genee is a Senior Corporate & Stakeholder Relations Coordinator at GRI. In her function, she is responsible for corporate outreach and relationship management with GRI stakeholders and GOLD Community members in a large number of countries and regions, including Northern and Eastern Europe, Russia, Switzerland, and Australia. Her activities include promotion of sustainability reporting, facilitating peer-to-peer learning, and engaging with a diversity of stakeholders in each region.

Prior to joining GRI she worked for a carbon footprinting consultancy in the Netherlands and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in CSR and Stakeholder Management, including several years of sustainability-related academic and consulting research.

She was Compliance Officer ex Italian Legislative Decree 231/01 in some Enel Companies and Secretary of the Enel SpA Supervisory Board ex Legislative Decree 231/01. During the period she coordinated that the “Code of Ethics”, “Zero Tolerance of Corruption Plan”, “Organizational and Management Model” (Model 231) and other equivalent documents are duly applied. Aditi Haldar is an expert on sustainable development with over 25 years’ experience in working with national, regional and global organizations in integrating sustainability and transparency for empowering decisions that will create sustainable economies. In her current role as Director, GRI Regional Hub South Asia, she leads the Global Reporting Initiative’s efforts to make sustainability reporting a standard practice in the South Asian region.

Throughout her career, Dr. Haldar has been active in various local and global programmes, advisory committees, networking groups and forums, including the Global Agenda Council Network of the World Economic Forum in the areas of sustainable development, , leadership, sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement, transparency and reporting. A frequent contributor to publications on sustainable development, she is also a popular speaker on sustainability and transparency issues in India and internationally. Simon joined BP’s Ethics and Compliance team in 2013. One of his responsibilities is to manage reporting for the Group Ethics and Compliance Officer to the company’s Board, Internal and External stakeholders on ethics and compliance matters. The editorial responsibilities of his role involve interpreting a wide variety of ethics and compliance information and data from within and outside his organisation and synthesising them into impactful reports for different readerships.

He is an experienced investigator and advisor on bribery, corruption, financial and ethical misconduct. This work has taken him on challenging assignments in many parts of the world and in different industries. The cultural exposure of this experience was an important preparation for his current ethics and compliance role in the large multinational organisation that is BP.

Simon would not say he has a potential bright future either in journalism or as a communications professional, but his varied career background to date in audit, accountancy and language teaching has been particularly helpful with the reporting duties of his current role.

 
   






Tony Henshaw

Tony is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and spent his early working life building and commissioning subway trains in South Korea, Portugal and for the London Underground. He received his MBA from the Manchester Business School in 1988, graduating with a Distinction.

After introducing Japanese management techniques into three different manufacturing companies, saving two from closure, he left manufacturing for a new life in Bolivia where he joined, Transredes – Bolivia’s oil and gas pipeline company and a Shell joint venture, as Vice President of Corporate Planning and Analysis. In 2000, Transredes suffered a 29,000 barrel oil spill on the high altiplano and after 8 months as Incident Commander in charge of the clean up and compensation of 126 indigenous communities, Tony returned to head office and created the Vice Presidency of Health, Safety, Environment and Social Affairs with a mandate to improve the company’s performance in these areas. Transredes became the first company in Bolivia to have an integrated Business Management System certified to ISO 9001, 14001 and OSHAS 18001 in 2003.

Appointed Vice President of Sustainability for CEMEX SA in 2007, Tony was instrumental in developing a sustainability model and strategy whilst improving stakeholder engagement through new NGO partnerships based around the company’s Conservation Book project and the management of the 500,000 acre EL Carmen Trans-boundary Park which spans the border between the USA and Mexico.

Tony joined mining company Vedanta Resources plc as Chief Sustainability Officer in November 2010 where he implemented his Sustainable Business Model and led the company’s sustainability programme. He created the Vedanta Sustainability Framework of Policies and Standards which is leading to improved operational performance and a growing reputation as a leading company operating to the recognized international performance standards set by the International Finance Corporation.

Tony joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2013, a $40 billion premium global conglomerate operating in 36 countries, as Chief Sustainability Officer. His mandate is to formalize and integrate an innovative sustainability model required to help the Aditya Birla Group reach its 2017 vision to be the leader in sustainable business practices across all its global operations. His central team will support the development of good governance structures, a group sustainability framework and practical roadmaps to help the Group’s businesses transform their businesses to survive and thrive in the changing world.

Mr. Girish Joshi, Senior General Manager by designation Heads Listing Business at Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). At BSE he also headed Fixed Income and Interest Rate Derivative Segments and was instrumental in the launch of Interest Rate Derivatives and New Debt Segments.

Before joining BSE, he has worked at ICICI Bank Group for 10 years. At ICICI Group he has worked in various areas like ICICIDirect.com, Treasury Mid Office and at CFO office. Girish was also one of the earliest core team members which were involved in the set-up of National Stock Exchange (NSE). At NSE during 7 years he worked in Wholesale Debt Market and post trade functions. 

He is a member of CoBoSAC committee of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and also member of CII committee on Integrated Reporting. He represents BSE in Sustainability Working Group (SWG) of World Federation of Stock Exchange (WFE) and also Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative of the United Nations. He has represented BSE in various sub groups formed by SEBI for market developments like E-IPO, Regulatory framework for Index Providers, Development of CBLO type products for Corporate Bonds, REITs and InVit etc.  He is also member of the Secretarial Standard Board (SSB) formed by the Institute of Company Secretary of India (ICSI). Mr. Girish Joshi is Chartered Accountant as well as Cost Accountant by qualification.

Dwight Justice has served on the staff of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and one of its predecessor organisations, the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, (ICFTU) since 1990. His main responsibilities have been in the areas of multinational enterprises, industrial relations and responsible business behaviour.

Dwight has significant experience in standard setting. He has served as the advisor to the Workers’ Group on many standard-setting and technical committees of the International Labour Conference. He has also participated in several ISO standard setting processes including the development of ISO 26000. He helped develop the ICFTU/GUF Basic Code of labour Practice – the precursor to the best known and most copied supply chain labour practice codes of conduct used by various multi-stakeholder and company initiatives. He has represented trade union views in the development of the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human rights and in updates of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. He is a member of GRI’s GSSB. His first involvement with GRI was in 2000.

Dwight began his trade union work as an activist and shop steward. Since 1977 he has held a number of positions with various trade union organisations in the areas of organising, political and legislative affairs, and international affairs. He has organised workers in the education, health care, public service, manufacturing and retail sectors. He was born in Williamson, West Virginia in 1951 and is a graduate of Elmira College in New York State.

Selen Gurbuz Karaca has started her career at IKEA, in 2005 as Chemical and Environmental Specialist in Trading Area Turkey & Egypt. Until 2008 she performed more than 300 audits based on IKEA code of Conduct and Chemical specifications at suppliers located in 6 different countries.

In 2008, she is appointed as Sustainability Manager for Trading Area South East Europe and led the purchasing teams located in 4 different offices (Turkey, Egypt, Romania, Serbia)

In 2016, she is appointed once more as the Sustainability Compliance Manager for IKEA Purchasing Operations Area South East Europe (member of the Management Team since 2008)

Selen has a wide experience in performing audits and leading various sustainability projects both in regional and on global level. With her solid field experience, she has also contributed to the development of various global IKEA guidelines (water, energy) working methods and IKEA code of conduct.

Selen is an Environmental Engineer with MSc degree in Environmental Technology from Bogazici University, 2002.

Prior to her career in IKEA, she worked as a research assistant at Bogazici University (2002-2005), while doing her PhD. She also worked as a visiting researcher at Technical University of Denmark, Mechanical Engineering Department on biomass gasification. (2004)

 
 




Lise Kingo

Lise Kingo is the Executive Director of the UN Global Compact which is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative with more than 13,500 signatories from 170 countries that have committed to aligning strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and taking actions that advance societal goals. Prior to joining the UN Global Compact in 2015, Ms. Kingo was Chief of Staff, Executive Vice-President and member of the Executive Management team at Novo Nordisk A/S. Currently being Vice-Chairperson and Senior Consultant in Kıymet-i Harbiye, the leading sustainability consultancy in Turkey, Erdem has started his sustainability management career by serving as a local analyst for the Accountability Rating in Turkey. Following his experience on sustainability performance assessment and benchmarking, he continued his career as a sustainability consultant for leading Turkish industrial corporations where he contributed very first examples of GRI Reporting in Turkey. After co-founding Kıymet-i Harbiye Management Consultancy in 2009, beside his professional practice, he also contributed to the shift of sustainability reporting in Turkey through actively engaging with several initiatives such as UNGC Turkey Network, lecturing in leading Turkish universities, participating in workgroups, speaking and moderating in sustainability events.

Beside his role in Kıymet-I Harbiye, since 2015 Erdem has been performing as GRI Nominated Trainer and GRI Community Leader for Turkey and Central Asia States, managing GRI’s Business Transparency Project in Turkey and continues his efforts to develop sustainability management practices in his region. Ans Kolk
Professor and Research Director

Ans Kolk is full professor and research director at the University of Amsterdam Business School, The Netherlands. Her areas are in corporate social responsibility and sustainability, especially in relation to the strategy and management of international firms, and their interactions with stakeholders. Specific topics have included non-financial reporting and assurance; climate change and energy; poverty and development; partnerships, stakeholders and governance. She has published many articles in international reputable journals, as well as book chapters and books. Professor Kolk regularly reviews for international journals, serves as editorial board member for major journals in her field, and (co-)edited several special issues. In 2009, she received the prestigious Aspen Institute Faculty Pioneer European Award (Lifetime Achievement Award), which recognizes exceptional faculty who are leaders in integrating environmental and social issues into their research and teaching both on- and off-campus.

Professor Kolk has participated in several international projects on strategy, organization and disclosure related to social and environmental issues, in cooperation with different private, public and societal organizations. Examples include research for national science foundations; for the KPMG international surveys of sustainability/corporate responsibility reporting; and as part of externally-funded international research networks on social and environmental issues in business and management, and on transnational climate change governance. An example of societal engagement is her activity (as board member and in an advisory role) for the DE Foundation, which was created by Douwe Egberts to further sustainable coffee and tea practices, with a specific focus on small farmers in developing countries.

Neha Kumar is working as Senior Advisor at GIZ with the Responsible Enterprise Finance Initiative being jointly implemented by GIZ and Small Industries Development Bank of India. She has steered the process of developing the National Voluntary Guidelines for Responsible Financing and successfully created the ownership and leadership with the Indian Banks’ Association for their roll out. The Guidelines are consensus backed blueprint for financial sector to integrate sustainability into their operations, lending and investment. Her previous work with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA, GoI) focused on bringing business, government and civil society together to jointly produce a sustainability framework for businesses, and an attendant reporting framework which has been mandated by the market regulator SEBI for the top 500 listed companies in India. These frameworks have contributed to discussion and action on incentive structures, steps towards more transparency, and attempts to create market based solutions for sustainable business and sustainable finance, which she is involved in. Before her stint at GIZ, she worked as a non-financial risk advisor and consulted national and international clients mainly in the extractive sector on issues of land acquisition and resettlement, security and stakeholder engagement mainly in politically sensitive parts of India, with a focus on marginalized groups.

Her experience in the last thirteen years or so ranges from working on the ground and contributing to policy formulation processes, bringing diverse stakeholders together, driving action research, creating common opportunities and strategies for implementation for industry action on sustainable development. Currently, she is a member of BIS committee on CSR and the Vice Chair of the Stakeholder Council of Global Reporting Initiative.

She has her academic training in Sciences, and International Politics and Diplomacy from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

 
 





Nancy J. Leppink

Ms. Leppink holds a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and BSc in Psychology from the University of Washington.  Prior to joining the ILO, Ms. Leppink was a presidential appointee as a senior executive and led the Wage and Hour Division of the United State Department of Labor. From 1999-2009, she was the Chief General Counsel for the State of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry and from 1985-1999 she was a State Assistant Attorney General practicing the areas of human rights, occupational safety and health, and labour and employment law. 

Ms. Leppink has over 25 years of experience as a strategist and leader in employment and labor policy, law, administration, enforcement and compliance. She has experience at national, international and state levels working with public, private and non-profit sectors. She has extensive knowledge of policy and law in the areas of employment and labor standards, occupational safety and health, and human rights. She brings to the ILO significant skills in the development and strategic implementation of legislation and regulations. She has managed diverse groups and organizations ranging from small teams to the 1600+ employees of the Wage and Hour Division

Daniel Malan is a Senior Lecturer in Ethics and Governance and Director of the Centre for Corporate Governance in Africa at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in South Africa. Arlene McCarthy OBE is the Executive Director of AMC Strategy. She is Special Advisor to the Chairman of Bloomberg and a Non-Executive Director for Bloomberg TFL. Arlene is a Non-Executive Director on the ICAEW Regulatory Board (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales).

Arlene served as an MEP for 20 years from 1994–2014. She was President of the European Parliament's Internal Market and Consumer Affairs Committee from 2006-2009. She was lead negotiator on the reform of financial services legislation including MFID II, market abuse and banking reform. Roel Nieuwenkamp

Roel studied Economics, Law and Philosophy at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He worked at the European Commission and was a consultant in New Zealand. He worked for several years as management consultant at Arthur Andersen.
In 1998 he became interim manager at the Ministry of Education. From 2001 until August 2006 he was managing director of the Entrepreneurship Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
 
From September 2006 until May 2013, he was managing director of the International Trade Policy & Economic Governance Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands. His responsibilities concerned trade policy (WTO), investment policy, corporate responsibility, and the regulation of trade in weapons and strategic goods.
 
In addition to his job he wrote his PhD dissertation about the interaction between ministers and top civil servants. From 2010 to 2014 he was part-time Professor of Public Administration at the University of Amsterdam. He still teaches at several universities.
 
Roel was Chair of the OECD Working Party on International Investment and in that capacity chaired the sensitive negotiations on the 2011 revision of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct. He chaired the Voluntary Principles for Security & Human Rights in the Extractives Industries in 2009 and 2013.
 
Since June 2013 Roel is Chair of the OECD Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct, the intergovernmental committee focussed on Corporate Responsibility, based on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. He provides leadership to the attached unique global complaints mechanism for corporate responsibility, the National Contact Point system. Besides, as Chair he leads the body of governments overseeing the corporate responsibility work of the OECD, including sectoral programmes for the financial, mining, garment, and agricultural sectors.

Ana Novik is the Head of the Investment Divison at the OECD. Her Division focusses on improving the international investment climate, promoting good domestic policies to support investment and Responsible Business Conduct. Ms. Novik establishes strategies for the OECD to secure a leadership role in the international investment debate and to advance a more structured economic analysis of investment flows and impact. She also contributes to OECD-wide initiatives, including horizontal work streams on competitive neutrality, global value chains and OECD contributions to the G20.

Before joining the OECD, Ms. Novik was Ambassador Director of Multilateral Economic Affairs in the Economics Directorate of Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. During this period, she represented Chile in international organisations, such as WTO, OECD and APEC, and acted as the country’s G20 Sherpa during the year 2012. She also headed and supervised negotiations on behalf of Chile in the investment and services areas, with China, Australia, TPP, Pacific Alliance and MERCOSUR, among others, and participated in Chile’s accession to OECD, particularly in the areas of investment and trade.

Ms Nteo is a sustainability specialist with over 17 years’ experience in the field and currently serving as a Strategic Executive Director: City Sustainability at the City of Tshwane where she is responsible for leading the sustainability programmes and ensuring that the City becomes the greenest most sustainable city in the African Region. 

Until December 2012, Ms Nteo was a Chief Policy Advisor for Sustainable Development at the South African Government Department of Environmental Affairs where she spearheaded the development and implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, South Africa’s engagements in global sustainable Development negotiations, the environment sector green economy response including the establishment and management of the national green fund. Ms Nteo also led the national environmental outlook reporting processes and the generation of environmental statistics.

Ms Nteo holds an MBA from the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute for Business Science (GIBS), A Master’s Degree in Environment and Development from the University of Sussex, UK; a Post-Graduate Diploma in Environmental Diplomacy from the University of Geneva, Switzerland and a first Degree in Environmental Health from the Tshwane University of Technology.

Brendan O’Dwyer is Professor of Accounting at the University of Amsterdam Business School where he served as Chair of the Accounting division from 2007 to 2010 and Dean of Research from 2011 to 2014. Brendan is recognized worldwide as an expert in the fields of non-financial reporting, corporate and NGO accountability; sustainability reporting and assurance, the regulation of professions and case-based methodologies. He sits on the editorial boards of numerous leading international academic journals and has published several award-winning papers, drawing on extensive practitioner engagement. Joris Oldenziel is Head of Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement at the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh since March 2014. The Accord is a ground-breaking legally binding agreement between garment brands and trade unions designed to work towards a safe and healthy Bangladeshi Ready-Made Garment Industry. At the Accord, Joris is responsible for engagement with labour and NGO signatories and their constituencies as well as other relevant external stakeholders such governments and policy makers, international institutions, multi-stakeholder initiatives, the investment community and the media.

Joris has more than 15 years of professional experience as an expert and adviser on Corporate Responsibility and business and human rights in global supply chains. Before joining the Accord, Joris was part of the Management Team of SOMO, the Dutch Centre for Research on Multinational Corporations in Amsterdam, heading the Corporate Accountability and Corporate Research departments.

With SOMO acting as the international secretariat, he founded OECD Watch, a global network of civil society organisations promoting effectiveness of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Chelsea Reinhardt

Chelsea is the Deputy Director, Standards at GRI, and is responsible for overseeing the transition of the G4 Guidelines to GRI Standards. Chelsea has been with GRI since January of 2016 and previously worked as the Head of Supply Chain Standard for the Marine Stewardship Council, a leading sustainable seafood standard based in London.  In her role with the Marine Stewardship Council, Chelsea oversaw a comprehensive supply chain standard review and led the development of innovative traceability programs for the foodservice and retail sectors. She helped to design new online public consultation procedures and also served as the primary liaison with the Technical Advisory Board and Stakeholder Council with respect to supply chain initiatives.

Prior to working at the Marine Stewardship Council, Chelsea was a sustainability consultant in the US (for Blu Skye Consulting) and later in Australia (for Net Balance), where she worked with global companies to implement CSR programs and sustainability reporting.  Before that, Chelsea was a strategy consultant with Deloitte LLP in San Francisco and also worked for Williams-Sonoma, Inc as a supply chain optimization analyst.

Chelsea grew up outside of Washington, DC and has an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a masters in Sustainable Development from St Andrews University in Scotland.

His current areas of interests include improving the measurement and assurability of corporate reporting, both financial and nonfinancial disclosures. He is the author of a leading auditing and assurance textbook, and has published in the world’s leading journals. Roger has a background in standard setting. Among his responsibilities he was a member of the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board and of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). He recently co-chaired the task force that developed the assurance standard on greenhouse gas emissions disclosures for the IAASB, and was a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council working group and technical task force 2011-2014.

David Smith is a Director of IMS Risk Solutions Ltd. and Chairs the ISO Committee PC 283 on occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems standard ISO 45001.

He worked for British Railways in a technical capacity for 30 plus years as a problem solver dealing with health, safety, fire, winterization, forensic and environmental management issues until he left to became a consultant 20 years ago.  He has been involved involved in writing management system standards for 25 years and chaired the UK BSI Committee on OHS management system standards for 20 years before taking on the chairmanship of PC 283. He has been involved in ISO 14000 series standard as well as standards on risk and resilience.

He works on behalf of a number of organizations (both large and small) in a consultancy capacity, assisting in the implementation of systems for:

• environmental management,
• health and safety management,
• quality management,
• risk management,
• governance,

He is a recognized trainer and operates all over the world – particularly in the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Europe. He carries out audits against ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

Previously, Mr. Taruc directed the operations of virtually the Corporate Panning Department of the BOI.  A  very  challenging  post  which  can  only  round  out  some  more  the  multi-layered  experience  of  this  manager. The  SMSD  covers  Infocomms,  Strategic  Communications AEC’s,  Statistics  and  Performance  and  Budget  Planning  for  the  entire  agency. Stiaan is currently responsible for a multinational petrochemical company’s sustainability reporting. He also serves on the GRI’s Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB) as business representative, and is a member of the working group under SAICA, responsible for the Framework for Integrating Reporting for South Africa under King V.

Steve leads Aviva Investors’ Global Responsible Investment team. This team is responsible for integrating environmental social and corporate governance (ESG) issues across all asset classes and regions of the c£250bn of assets under management.

Steve founded the Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative as well as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition, which is aiming to catalyse a UN Convention promoting enhanced corporate transparency and integrated reporting. His work became a case study in the Harvard Business School MBA in 2012.

Steve received the Leadership in Sustainability award from the Corporation of London in 2013, and he became an Ambassador for the International Integrated Reporting Council. He was a member of the UK Government delegation to the UN Rio+20 meeting in 2012, and a member of the European Commission’s expert groups on corporate governance and corporate responsibility. In 2011 he received the Yale Rising Star in Corporate Governance Award, and he was among the Financial News Top 100 Rising Stars in 2009.

Steve was on the board of the UK Sustainable Investment & Finance association (UKSIF) from 2003 to 2010, serving as its Chairman from 2006. He was also part of the expert group that wrote the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.

Steve is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst institute, has a degree in Economics and a PhD in sustainable finance. He is a faculty member at the International Corporate Governance Network as well as the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

Peter is the Director of TI-UK’s Business Integrity Programme. He joined Transparency International UK on the same day as the Bribery Act came in to force (1 July 2011).

Peter heads TI-UK’s business related activities, including research, advocacy and capability building. His responsibilities include TI-UK’s Business Integrity Forum, a forum of leading companies committed to high standards in their ant-corruption efforts.
Peter regularly speaks at conferences and lectures at a number of postgraduate courses in the UK. He works with a number of industry and professional bodies on raising standards and represents TI-UK on the Advisory Board of AIM PROGRESS, the European Brands Association’s Supply Chain Integrity Initiative.

Further Background:
Peter started his career writing economic and political risk reports at the EIU, followed by a stint at Shell’s Group Planning where he worked for the Chief Economist before taking on a variety of roles in management consulting and senior management for companies such as Accenture and Bertelsmann. During her management, as Head of Corporate Image and Social Responsibility, Electroperu became the first state-owned company issuing a sustainability report, moreover it became the first public enterprise in the top 100 companies reputation ranking, also it appeared in the most responsible companies list. Milagros was founder and Chairperson of the Corporate Social Responsibility Commitee of state-owned companies in Peru.
