GRI Secretariat

Led by the CEO and the Leadership Team, the Secretariat implements GRI’s strategic work plan - in addition to managing network and institutional communications, global outreach, stakeholder relations, marketing and financial administration.

The GRI Secretariat is headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where we have around 90 staff members based, while our work is supported by a Regional Network of seven offices.

Eelco van der Enden


Responsibility for overseeing GRI's strategic work program and organizational management.
Eelco joined GRI as CEO in January 2022 from multinational professional services network PwC, where he was Global ESG Platform Leader for Tax, Legal, People & Organisation Services. The author of over 50 published articles on governance and reporting, he has held a range of senior roles with listed companies, including as head of treasury, risk management and tax.
From 2019 to 2021, Eelco served on the GRI Board of Directors while he was previously a member of the Technical Committee that developed the GRI Tax Standard (GRI 207), and Chair of the Tax Policy Group of Accountancy Europe.

Bastian Buck
Chief of Standards


Responsibility for the ongoing maintenance, development, implementation and enhancement of GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Framework.
Bastian, who has been with GRI since 2006, has in-depth institutional knowledge of GRI’s technical development and played a key role in the successful launch of GRI’s G4 Guidelines in 2013, following which he became Director Reporting in the Standard Department. Since then he led the introduction of the GRI Standards in 2016.
Bastian has presented on sustainability reporting in more than 30 countries and is highly experienced in international and multi-stakeholder expert working. He holds a Masters in Business Administration, focusing on sustainable development, from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Jérôme St-Denis
Chief of Engagement


Responsible for GRI’s donor engagement, communications and Community engagement.
Jérôme joined GRI in April 2022 as Chief Donor Engagement Officer, to lead fundraising activities with corporates, private foundations and bilateral funders. His role expanded in September 2022 to include responsibilities for communications strategy and membership engagement through the GRI Community.
With more than 20 years’ expertise in advocacy and fund-raising for non-profits, aid agencies, foundations and trusts, his previously worked in senior roles with the City Cancer Challenge Foundation, WWF International, and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics. A Canadian national, he holds an Executive MBA in Sustainable Business, from Business School Lausanne and University of St. Galle (Switzerland).

Ásthildur Hjaltadóttir
Chief Regional O


Responsible for content development and program delivery, and closely collaborates with GRI’s Regional Hubs worldwide.
Ásthildur joined GRI in 2007 and has held various positions in the organization, including project managing the development of the G4 Guidelines, and Director of the Report Services and Training and Coaching Departments. Since 2017, Ásthildur has been responsible for GRI´s regional offices and program implementation.
Before joining GRI, she worked in various roles for international organizations in Brussels, Belgium, and The Hague, Netherlands.

Dani Marunovic
Chief Financial Officer


Responsibility for day-to-day management of Secretariat operations.
Dani, who joined GRI in August 2021, oversees operations of the Secretariat, covering budgeting, financial controls, HR and legal affairs as well as infrastructure and IT. 
With over 20 years’ experience in financial leadership roles with multinational organizations, Dani has previously worked for Youth Business International, Wildlife Conservation Society, and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition. 
She holds Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Oxford Brookes University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Business from the Said Business School - University of Oxford. Dani is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.  

Peter Paul van de Wijs
Chief Policy Officer


Responsibility for GRI’s political and capital market outreach.
Peter Paul joined GRI in June 2018. He has responsibility for global advocacy with jurisdictions, intergovernmental organizations and capital market regulators, as well as maintaining strategic relations with key stakeholders in the global policy environment.
With over 20 years experience in communications, public affairs and sustainability roles, Peter Paul has held executive positions at the LEGO Foundation and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. He holds a degree in Communications from the College for Economic and Business Administration Studies, Eindhoven.
