The Earth Charter Initiative

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on the Earth Charter.

The Earth Charter is a declaration of fundamental ethical principles for building a just, sustainable and peaceful global society in the 21st century. GRI’s alliance with the Earth Charter was established in 2008, and the Memorandum of Understanding was renewed at the Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency in May 2010. In 2008, GRI published a document detailing the synergies between the G3 Guidelines and the Earth Charter: The Earth Charter, GRI, and the Global Compact: Guidance to Users on the Synergies in Application.
