Who developed the Supplement?
GRI started the development of the Event Organizers Sector Supplement in collaboration with its project funders: the Austrian and Swiss governments who jointly hosted the 2008 European Soccer Championships, The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), who will host the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The Event Organizers Sector Supplement was developed by a multi-stakeholder, geographically diverse Working Groups, formed by volunteers from event organizers companies and organizations, investors, labor, non-governmental organizations and research organizations. Members take part in the GRI Working Groups as individuals and do not necessarily represent the view of their organization.
Fiona Pelham, Sustainable Events Ltd., worked as a consultant on the project.

How was the supplement developed?
The GRI Event Organizers Sector Supplement was developed over a two year process by a multi-stakeholder, geographically diverse Working Group.
The Working Group members volunteered their expertise to develop the content of the Supplement using GRI’s characteristic consensus-seeking approach. The process included two opportunities for public comment, where all interested sector experts were invited to submit their suggestions and comments on the drafts.
During the process and once the Supplement was finalized, GRI’s governance bodies reviewed the content and the development process to make sure it complied with GRI’s due process and quality expectations.
The final version of the Supplement was launched on 24 January 2012 at London 2012’s offices, in London, and on 25 January through an online conference.
