GRI Focal Point Australia event explores corporate trust
01 December 2010

On 19 October 2010, the Global Reporting Initiative’s Focal Point Australia hosted the event Who'd Trust the Modern Corporation? Nearly 250 business, civil society and government leaders attended the event and participated in a Q&A-style debate on corporate trust, transparency and accountability. The debate raised questions on whether current frameworks for transparency and accountability are adequate for the ethical dilemmas that face the corporation, Australia and the world.

The event took the form of plenary presentations, followed by facilitated discussions. The discussion involved questions being posed directly by members of the audience to the panelists around the key themes of trust, transparency and accountability of the corporation.

The event was a great success and helped to shed light on the mechanisms through which corporations are seeking to instill trust in their stakeholders.
