Arabesque Asset Management
is an investment management firm that offers a quantitative approach to sustainable investing. It is a mission-driven enterprise that puts sustainability at the heart of its investment process. As a central component of this process, Arabesque integrates environmental, social and governance (ESG) information with quantitative investment strategies.
Arabesque traces its roots back to 2013 when it was established as an independent firm with offices in London and Frankfurt. The company works closely with industry and academic leaders to develop investment products that both drive profitability and contribute to a more sustainable society.
At the core of Arabesque’s vision is the conviction that sustainable and responsible investment is now an imperative. Through an innovative, rules-based approach, the company has been able to build proper links between non-financial measures and value creation, and in doing so, change the understanding of how businesses can contribute to sustainable development. Rooted in its investment model is the idea that contemporary people care about how financial return is made. Therefore, evaluating ESG performance together with financial performance can yield higher and more sustainable returns than simply relying on traditional financial metrics to benchmark success.
Technology also plays an important role in Arabesque’s investment strategy. “Our objective is to take sustainability into the mainstream by making the data available in a practical and cost efficient way,” states Arabesque CEO Omar Selim. The company is currently developing new ways to collect and analyze data to allow more transparent decision-making for a large group of stakeholders.
Arabesque sees its participation in the GRI GOLD Community program as an opportunity to share its knowledge and expertise in the area of sustainability data amongst GRI Stakeholders. “We joined the GRI GOLD Community as we strongly believe in knowledge sharing. As one of the pioneers in this sector, we wish to demonstrate our leadership and help the wider GRI community to better understand the real value of sustainability data,” explains Andreas Feiner, Head of ESG Research and Advisory. “We aim at being part of the sea of change in sustainability reporting by pushing for better sustainability standards and more transparent reporting worldwide.”
