Wärtsilä Corporation's sustainability report wins Finnish reporting awards

​First prize in Finland’s 2010 Corporate Responsibility Reporting competition was awarded to the Wärtsilä Corporation - a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets. The competition, which assessed corporate reporting responsibilities in 2009, was successfully organized for the 15th time by a variety of parties including: the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the Ministry of the Environment.
​The competition committee emphasized Wärtsilä’s reporting of risks, opportunities and safety issues relating to sustainability. The committee also applauded the attention given to issues relating to climate change and interest group cooperation.

The Wärtsilä Corporation has been investing and reporting on sustainable operations for the past decade. The corporation is committed to responsible business operations and is focused on developing its products and operations in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

Wärtsilä published its first environmental report in 2001, which was prepared in accordance with GRI’s Reporting Guidelines. Wärtsilä recently joined GRI’s global network of organizational stakeholders, demonstrating its commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainable development.
