GRI appoints Susanne Stormer as next leader of standard-setting board

New Chair confirmed for the Global Sustainability Standards Board
GRI has appointed Susanne Stormer as the Chair of the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), the GRI governance body responsible for setting the GRI Standards.
Susanne is Leader in Residence at Copenhagen Business School, and brings a diverse professional background and extensive reporting experience. She was most recently a Partner at PwC Denmark, providing sustainability advisory and assurance services, prior to which she was Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Novo Nordisk for 13 years.
Susanne has served on the EFRAG Project Task Force that developed the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), as a SASB Standards Board Member, and as a founding member of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).

- Jeff Robertson (Director of Environment and Sustainability at Bimbo Canada, a division of Grupo Bimbo);
- Deborah Ng (Head of ESG and Sustainability, GMO LLC);
- Galya Tsonkova (Head of Sustainability Reporting and Nature Programs, Coca-Cola HBC AG);
- Chulendra de Silva (Founding Partner of InterBalance Consulting).
About Susanne Stormer
Incoming GSSB Chair Susanne Stormer has been Leader in Residence at the Copenhagen Business School since 2025, prior to which she worked for PwC Denmark (2021-2025) and Novo Nordisk (2008-2020), a role in which she led the company’s pioneering integration of sustainability reporting into its Annual Report.
Susanne's other governance roles include: Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the International Corporate Governance Network; Member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Business Member at the OECD; Board Member of Shift (the center of expertise on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights); and Board Member of the Access to Nutrition Foundation.
She served as a member of EFRAG’s ESRS Project Task Force (2020-2022), the multi-stakeholder group that advised the European Commission on corporate sustainability reporting legislation. Over the same period, Susanne was a member of the SASB Standards Board ahead of its merger with the IFRS Foundation.
She has also served on the boards of Denmark’s Akademiet for Social Innovation and the UN Global Compact Network Denmark. In addition, Susanne is a visiting professor at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
