The GRI Professional Certification Program is designed to enhance the knowledge, expertise, and skills of sustainability professionals in implementing the GRI Standards to improve the quality of sustainability reporting. Accessible via the GRI Academy or a Certified Training Partner (CTP), professionals complete five courses that cover the fundamentals of GRI reporting in preparation for a final certification exam.

Over 100 training partners across 57 countries offer GRI’s Certified Training Course, customized training in a peer-to-peer environment offering networking opportunities and locally tailored content.
Professionals can start their certification journey by taking the GRI Standards Certified Training course, after which they will be awarded three out of five required points towards unlocking the certification exam.
For professionals who prefer to do online courses via the GRI Academy, each course will award one point towards the exam.
GRI Standards exam vs GRI certification exam
The GRI certification exam replaced the GRI Standards exam as of 1 July 2020. Professionals that have already purchased the Standards exam can still take it until 15 October 2020. If a professional would like to upgrade their learning they can continue to do so via the GRI Academy or a Certified Training Partner.
