What are the GRI Standards?
The GRI reporting framework is the most widely used and trusted framework for sustainability reporting in the world. According to a 2015 KPMG report, 92% of the world’s largest 250 corporations report on their sustainability performance and 74% of these use the GRI reporting framework to do so.
To remain ahead of the fast moving sustainable development agenda (most notably illustrated by the Paris Climate Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals), the current GRI G4 Guidelines are evolving into a new set of modular, interrelated GRI Standards.
The new GRI Standards will enable reporting organizations to make a greater contribution to sustainable development and meet emerging stakeholder needs. The quality, comparability and accessibility of sustainability information will be enhanced. More details on the transition to standards can be found here
How are the GRI Standards being launched?
To raise awareness and to promote the adoption of the GRI Standards, GRI is organizing a series of launch events in cities around the world between November 2016 and May 2017. These events will introduce the GRI Standards to the established GRI network as well as to new audiences. The transition from G4 to the GRI Standards and the benefits of the new GRI Standards will be discussed. The program will also incorporate perspectives from local stakeholders.
