In line with the transition from the G4 Guidelines to GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards
(GRI Standards), GRI will phase out the G4 Exam by 30 June 2017, and replace it with the GRI Standards Exam. Interested candidates are able to sign up for the GRI Standards Exam as of 1 July 2017.
Companies can use the G4 Guidelines as their sustainability reporting framework until June 2018, but early transition is encouraged. GRI is actively supporting reporters to transition to the GRI Standards by offering services based on the Standards, such as the GRI Standards Course. First-time reporters are strongly encouraged to use the GRI Standards instead of G4.
If you have already passed the G4 Exam, the certificate will remain valid until its expiration date. However, as most businesses are expected to make the transition during 2017, we recommend to update your knowledge and take the GRI Standards Exam at your earliest convenience. Candidates who have passed the G4 Exam will receive a 30 % discount on the Standards Exam if their G4 Exam 3-year certificate is valid beyond the period of the validity of the G4 Guidelines (30th June 2018).
More information about preparation and requirements for the GRI Standards Exam will be provided on this page during June 2017.
