Stakeholder Council appointments reinforce GRI's commitment to global representation and public-interest governance

Renewed leadership has been confirmed for the multistakeholder advisory body that helps guide the future direction of GRI, underscoring its global and cross-sector representation at a time of rapid change for sustainability reporting.

Louis Coppola, Co-Founder of the Governance & Accountability Institute, has been confirmed as new Chair of the GRI Stakeholder Council – with Adekemi Adisa, General Manager Sustainability & Shared Value, MTN Nigeria Communications PLC, taking on the role of Vice Chair. Their appointments come with one month remaining in GRI's global recruitment call for new members to four of its governance bodies.

The Stakeholder Council advises the GRI Supervisory Board, Management Board, and Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), and comprises at least 15 individuals spanning global regions. It ensures that diverse perspectives inform the organization's priorities as sustainability reporting evolves.

Bringing together voices from business enterprise, investment and financial institutions, civil society and academia, service providers, labor, and the public sector, the Council embodies GRI’s multistakeholder strength and commitment to serving the public interest.

"It's an honor to step into the role of Chair of the GRI Stakeholder Council at such a consequential moment for sustainability reporting globally. As reporting frameworks become increasingly connected and organizations seek to report once and meet multiple requirements, the Council plays an important role in ensuring diverse stakeholder perspectives shape GRI's future. I look forward to working closely with Adekemi and colleagues across GRI's governance in the years ahead."

"Strong sustainability reporting depends on standards that earn trust and support better decision-making. That's what first motivated me to join the Stakeholder Council, and what inspires me as Vice Chair. The Council’s multistakeholder representation helps ensure reporting reflects the needs of organizations that use our Standards – and the communities, workers, investors, and civil society groups that rely on the information they provide."

GRI extends its sincere thanks to departing Stakeholder Council Chair Erdem Kolcuoglu and Vice Chair Constance Kane for their outstanding leadership and dedicated service. Their contributions have strengthened the Council and supported its continued success. We are delighted to welcome Louis Coppola and Kemi Adisa to these leadership roles and look forward to working with them as they guide the Stakeholder Council through its next chapter."

Experienced professionals from around the world are encouraged to apply and help shape the future of corporate transparency.
