The Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), GRI’s independent standard-setting body, has approved the GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety 2018 Standard. In addition, the GRI's Due Process Oversight Committee confirmed that due process has been followed in the development of this Standard. This was the last formal step before proceeding to the release of the Standard.
Release of the new Standard is expected in June 2018.

Review of GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety
The GSSB is overseeing a project to review and update the content of GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety in 2017 and 2018.
The project's objective is to review and update the content of GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety to ensure it is in line with internationally-agreed best practice and reflects recent developments in OHS management and reporting. The scope of work includes updating, expanding or deleting existing content, where appropriate. The project follows the GSSB Due Process Protocol, the implementation of which is overseen by the Due Process Oversight Committee.
A 60-day public comment period on the proposed changes to GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety ran from 10 August to 9 October 2017. The full set of public feedback is now available for review.
The GSSB will publish a separate 'Basis for Conclusions' document after the release of GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety 2018 in June, summarizing the main themes from the public comments and how they have been addressed in the final Standard.
Further information about the project can be found in the Review of GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety project proposal. Please keep your eye on this page, or sign up below, to stay informed about project updates. Further questions can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
